This strikethrough text generator draws a line straight through each letter using a Unicode combining character — most commonly U+0336 (combining long stroke overlay), which renders as C̶r̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶O̶u̶t̶. Because the line is attached to the character data itself rather than applied through HTML's <s> or <del> tags or a Markdown shortcut, it survives copy-paste into places that have no strikethrough button at all — Instagram bios, Discord nicknames, WhatsApp status, checklists, and plain-text notes.
Where this page differs from a general decorative cross-out font collection is that every style here is a systematic variation on the same core stroke, so you can pick the version that matches the tone you need instead of a random decorative alphabet: Classic Strikethrough is the plain, reliable default; Bold and Italic Strikethrough layer the line onto Unicode's mathematical bold and italic alphabets for stronger or more editorial-looking emphasis; Script Strikethrough pairs it with a cursive alphabet for a handwritten "crossed off" look; Thin Strikethrough uses the lighter U+0335 combining short stroke overlay; Double Strikethrough stacks the stroke twice for heavier emphasis; Diagonal Strikethrough uses the U+0337 combining short solidus overlay for a slash-style cross-out; and Boxed Strikethrough adds a combining overline on top of the stroke to frame a word.
Strikethrough text has genuinely practical, non-decorative uses: crossing off completed items in a plain-text checklist or to-do list, showing an original price next to a discounted one in a listing or caption (w̶a̶s̶ ̶$̶9̶9̶ now $49), marking a task as done in a shared notes app that has no formatting, and the ironic "honest aside" meme format popularised on Twitter and Tumblr, where a crossed-out phrase sits next to the "polite" version of a sentence. Discord's own ~~strikethrough~~ Markdown only works inside message content — it does nothing in a nickname, channel name, or server name, so Unicode strikethrough is the only option in those fields.
As with any combining-mark text, each struck-through letter is technically two Unicode characters — the base letter plus the combining stroke — so a 10-letter word becomes roughly 20 characters for platforms that count characters toward a bio or post limit. Rendering is consistent on modern iOS and Android system fonts, though very long sentences in Double or Boxed Strikethrough can look heavier than intended; for readability, strikethrough text works best on short phrases, prices, or completed checklist items rather than full paragraphs.
